HYPNOTHERAPY is psychotherapy that can cure mental
and physical disorders through the power of suggestion. By "implanting" healing suggestions in the subconscious mind the
body is able to cure itself. The practice of hypnosis dates back thousands of years. Ancient Greeks and Romans used the
power of suggestion to heal their patients. Tribal medicine men were believed to have special powers to heal people, when
in fact their patients healed themselves through the power of suggestion. More modern use of the power of suggestion was
used by a French doctor, Anton Mesmer (1734-1815). It was reported that he was able to heal his patients by using "animal
magnetism", which evolved to the point where he would simply wave his hands over them to cure them. However, his practices
were not accepted by the medical community of the time and he was exiled to Switzerland. But his name lives on! Have you ever
been "Mesmerized"? In the 19th century another French physician, Jean Martin Charcot (1825-1893)published a paper on
hypnosis that was accepted by The Academy of Science in France. Also during that time period two other physicians Hippolyte
Bernheim and Ambroise-Auguste Liebault started the Nancy School that taught medical hypnosis. It was reported that Sigmund
Freud (1856-1939)was intrigued with hypnosis and studied at the Nancy School. However, he later influenced the field of psychology
away from the use of hypnosis in lieu of his own theories in mental health. In the 20th century two behavioral scientists
led in the mordern acceptance of medical hypnosis. Clark Hull (1884-1952) and Milton Erickson (1901-1980) continued to bring
hypnosis into medical practices as a viable treatment option for mental and physical illness. Erickson founded the American
Society of Clinical Hypnosis in 1957, with the goal of providing and encouraging educational programs that further the knowledge,
understanding, and acceptance of hypnosis as an important clinical tool in healing the mind or body.

MEDICAL HYPNOTHERAPY is the practice of using
over 100 years of clinical treatment in hypnosis in order to cure disorders of the mind and body. The techniques a clinical
hypnotherapist uses relies on proven methods that alter the subconscious, thereby helping the body cure itself. Specific
suggestions are made through scripts developed by professionals such as Erickson and Hull. Tape recordings of the hypnotherapy
session are used for continual reinforcement and reshaping of the subconscious. It does not matter how "deeply" a patient
enters into a "trance state" during the session because the session is recorded. On subsequent sessions in the comfort of
ones home, suggestions on the tape facilate the desired results.
Medical Hypnotherapy has a high success rate for
over 300 disorders today. The hypnotherapist works with the patient's subconscious that cures the mind or body when directed
to.
Hypnotherapy has been effective for disorders such as: Anxiety Disorders/ Phobias, ADD/ADHD, Allergies, Eating
Disorders, Depression, Headaches/Migraines,Insomnia, Natural Child birth, Pain Cesation, School/Sports Performance, Skin Disorders,
Stress, Smoking Cesation, Substance Abuse, and Weight Loss, to name a few.
